Review of the bookmaker Fortebet from Legalbet

Fortebet, formerly known as Fortunebet in 2014, experienced a name change in 2016 and have so far become one of the most popular betting platforms in Uganda. Despite them being in the betting scene for quite a long time, it is an irrefutable fact that they have a whole lot of work to be done to ensure customers enjoy a satisfactory experience. They are licensed by the National Lottery Board, Uganda with license number 149080.

Odds — good

We calculated the margin for Fortebet by analysing the odds they offer. We further ranked them in one of the following three categories:

From 1% to 5%: Good value

Over 5% to 7%: Average value

Over 7% to 10%: Poor value

Football

We’re getting our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the total goals scored for different football leagues. By getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and also the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.

Fortebet has an overall average margin of 3.04% for football and falls in the average value category. In the first section using odds from the English Premier League, the margin is at 2.71%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, has a margin of 2.76%. Finally, by counting the English Football League One, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa, the margin is at 3.65%.

Betting options — bad

Fortebet is among the most popular betting platforms in Uganda. However, it offers a limited number of sports for betting. In fact, we dare say one of the smallest when compared to what's being offered by other bookies in Uganda.

Range of Sports: A sports selection that's just about 10 is in every way small, especially when you consider that a flock of betting platforms out there today offers as much as 20 and even more. It seems like a decision of the site to have just the most popular ones within its menus and try to serve them as good as it can. As at the time of this review, the sports offered were: soccer, tennis, basketball, handball, volleyball, ice hockey, American football, boxing, MMA and snooker.

However, they have a fairly decent casino section with 30+ games on offer for punters to pick from. They also have a detailed virtual section featuring many leagues, although the only option available here is the popular football.

The website scores good points in its user interface as it is quite appealing go the eyes and not difficult at all to navigate through.

Range of Bets and Markets: Punters hold in high esteem bookies that have a broad range of betting options. With a broad range of betting options, there is no limitation and they could literally place bets on anything.

Fortebet are found lacking in this regard as with the sports variety. The betting options available on this platform are few and that goes for all sports. Most definitely, they have a lot of work to do in this regard. This is one of the major features that punters look out for when considering a new bookie and this could be a letdown.

For the football section of the platform, you can find regular options like "over/under 2.5", "home to score", "away to score", "1st half goals", "1st half both teams to score", "anytime goalscorer" etc.

The basketball section is too limited considering the fact that the one and only option is the straight win.

Betting limits: The money that can be placed per bet should be enough for most punters. As it’s the case with most of the bookmakers out there though, the limits are getting chopped when we talk about betting on lower leagues.

Live — normal

As the years go by, the online betting space keeps experiencing noticeable changes in the features it offers. Some years ago, the in-play option was non-existent, but today, punters are given the opportunity to stake on live games.

The interesting thing about live games is the fact that punters get to have live statistics to help them make their picks. It is a no brainer why the feature has grown popular among punters.

Fortebet offers a betting platform that's not just all about pre-matches, but live games too, for which it makes provision of four main sports: football, basketball, tennis and table tennis. The football live section is well stacked with options as they boast around 60+ different markets on their live section.

However, the same diversity did not cut across the other sports in this section. For context, tennis has just about 20+ options while some basketball games saw even less depending on the league and game itself.

Another notable flaw of Fortebet's live section is the unavailability of comprehensive live statistics for each game. An improvement in this regard is very essential as live statistics are key to making informed betting decisions for in-play betting. They aslo have no live streaming and that doesn’t come as a surprise.

Overall, they are just about average in this regard and have lots of room for improvement.
